Obra terminada en Travesía a la Patagonia en Cochrane

Travesía a la Patagonia en Cochrane.

Taller de V Año de Arquitectura PUCV.

El día 30 de Noviembre 2013 se terminó la obra de Travesía realizada por el taller de Arquitectura de V Año PUCV en la Patagonia chilena en la ciudad de Cochrane.

La obra está constituida por ocho Pormenores que son unos espacios de detención en el Paseo que se está conformando junto al Río Cochrane frente al Mercado Municipal recientemente construido.

Cada Pormenor fue realizado por un par de estudiantes, quienes lo concibieron, proyectaron y erigieron, utilizando en parte materiales proporcionados por la I. Municipalidad de Cochrane, los que fueron reciclados por ellos mismos.

La obra quiere cuidar de esta extensión junto al río para ser habitada cuando el clima permite la vida al aire libre.

Los Pormenores vienen a cantar la posibilidad que todo punto de América tiene desde la visión de Amereida. Esto es la posibilidad de erigir su presente en su doble sentido, el de ahora y aquí y el de constituir un regalo o donación. De este modo ellos reunen en su espacialidad las dimensiones gravitantes para recibir los cuerpos en su detención, contienen la posibilidad de sentarse, y al mismo tiempo esta espacialidad incluye la belleza de las aguas traslúcidas del río y la lejanía que se hace presente al levantar la mirada.

Los pormenores cuidan también del ofrecimiento de la urbanidad dando la posibilidad de un asiento con mayor confort, constituido por piezas de hormigón cuya forma se ha logrado con moldajes flexibles. Esto último se dirige a que al menos dos personas puedan compartir esta detención, en una proximidad medida que permita la conversación. Así la plenitud del habitar puede estar sostenida por el espacio que llega a acoger la palabra.

Esta Travesía contó con la ayuda de la I.Municipalidad de Cochrane y su Alcalde, entidad a la que se accedió gracias a nuestras ex-alumnas arquitectas Rocío Borquez, Natalia Petersen, Margarita Navarrete y Gabriela Zamora, quienes con su asistencia y hospitalidad posibilitaron la permanencia del Taller en muy buena forma en la ciudad de Cochrane.

El Taller tuvo de huéspedes a dos visitantes internacionanles:

La Arquitecta Mary Ann Steane, profesora de la Escuela de Arquitectura de Cambridge, Inglaterra; quien realiza colaboraciones con nuestra Escuela que son un aporte a nuestras investigaciones, quien ha viajado en esta oportunidad espacialmente para participar en esta Travesía.

También se ha unido a esta experiencia creativa de la Travesía la Historiadora del Arte Doris Bravo, quien está realizando una tesis doctoral en la Universidad de Texas, U.S.A. cuyo tema es la enseñanza de la arquitectura en nuestra Escuela.

Esta Travesía ha estado a cargo de los Profesores del Taller de V Año, arquitectos:

Travesía to Cochrane in Patagonia

5th Year Architecture Studio PUCV

The travesía obra (work, oeuvre) realised by the 5th Year Studio at PUCV was finished on 30th November 2013 in the town of Cochrane in Chilean Patagonia. The work is constituted by eight pormenores ( fragments/details/distillations) that are spaces for lingering on the Paseo (promenade) being formed next to the River Cochrane in front of the recently constructed municipal market building.

The Pormenores aim to sing the possiibility that every point in America holds, in accordance with the vision of Amereida.This is the possibility of erecting its present in a double sense: that of the here and now, and that of constituting a gift or donation. In this way the spatiality of the Pormenores adopts weight-bearing dimensions in order to accommodate bodies at rest. They have the possibility of being sat on, and at the same time their spatiality involves the beauty of the rivers’s clear waters and the distance made present on looking up.

Each Pormenor was realizad by a pair of students. They conceived, refined and then built it, using, in part, materials provided by the Municipality of Cochrane which they recycled themselves. The work looks to take care of this area next to the river in order to make it habitable when the climate permits life in the open air.

The Pormenores also care for what urbanity can offer. They make possible a very comfortable seat through concrete elements whose form was achieved with flexible moulds The latter aspect leads to at least two people being able to share this lingering with a measure of proximity which allows conversation. Thus the plenitude of habitation can be sustained by space that aims to welcome speech.

This travesía depended on the help of the Mayor and the Municipality of Cochrane the body which gave permssion, thanks to our alumnae Rocío Borquez, Natalia Petersen, Margarita Navarrete and Gabriela Zamora. It was their assistance and hospitality which made it possible for the Studio to stay in very good shape in the town of Cochrane.

The Studio had two international guests. The architect Mary Ann Steane, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge, England, collaborates with our school, contributing to our research, and travelled to Chile specifically to participate in this travesía. The art historian Doris Bravo also joined this creative experience. She is completing a doctoral thesis at the University of Texas, U.S.A., whose theme is the teaching of architecture at our school. David Jolly, David Luza, Alvaro Mercado and Valentina Requesens led this travesía.
