Una mesa dispuesta para almorzar.

Lo que llega a la mesa son utensilios, todo sirve, al punto que platos y cubiertos reciben el nombre genérico de servicio.

Pero también en esta mesa hay un florero, es un recipiente transparente con agua y unas flores que están dispuestas en él, que se multiplican en las superficies brillantes. Este es un arreglo cuidado, ciertamente no es un error. Es fruto de una voluntad, está calculado, su tamaño y la cantidad de flores. Es una construcción breve, las flores en su fragilidad, singular forma y colorido traen a presencia lo bello en lo breve.

Así las flores en un interior traen a presencia una manifestación inequívoca de la belleza. En la mesa dispuesta para la comida está todo aquello que es lo imprescindible y necesario, pero la presencia de las flores nos dice que para habitar en plenitud se requiere de más.

Podemos decir que una mesa con flores es una mesa completa, ha llegado a una completitud por eso se puede bien habitar. También podemos decir que las flores siendo lo que son a su vez representan a alguien. La característica de una mesa es que ofrece, así las flores representan a quien ofrece. La mesa es el espacio del ofrecimiento, por eso todo tiende a ser cuidado, los platos los utensilios y su disposición llegan a formar una figura. Todo esto es posible porque hay alguien que sostiene el ofrecimiento.

Bueno pero todo esto es una buena construcción, la disposición del servicio y aún lo que se ha de comer que de suyo no requeriría de una completitud, sería algo simplemente correcto.

Pero las flores nos están indicando que se quiere ese algo más, siguiendo esta pista podemos arriesgar una afirmación. Las flores representan ciertamente al que construye, pero representan aquello de más que tiene su construir y es un rasgo de la libertad que es donar. La presencia de las flores con su breve belleza cantan la donación que hay detrás de lo que se ofrece.

Flowers which represent giving

What comes to the table are utensils. All these serve, to the point that plates and covers have the general name service.

But on this table there is also a vase. It is a transparent vessel with water and some flowers that are multiplied by its glistening surface. This is a careful arrangement, it is certainly not an error. It is the consequence of a wish, the size and quantity of flowers calculated. It is a brief construction, flowers in their fragility, individual colour and form,  bringing to presence the fleetingly beautiful.

Thus flowers in an interior bring to presence an unequivocal manifestation of beauty. On a table laid out for a meal everything that is indispensable and necessary is there, but the  presence of flowers tells us that more is required to live well.

We can say that a table with flowers is a table made complete, a table that has achieved a completeness that makes living well possible.   Also we can say that the flowers in turn represent someone. The characteristic of a table is that it offers, thus the flowers represent the one who does the offering. The table is the space of offering, so everything tends to be looked-after, the plates and the utensils and their layout establish a figure. All this is possible because there is someone who sustains the offering.

Well, all this is a good construction: the arrangement of the service and even what there is to eat, that does not require completeness in and of itself, just something appropriate.

But the flowers are telling us that we want something more, and following this path we can venture an affirmation.  The flowers certainly represent building, but they represent something more that not only takes building, but is an aspect of the freedom that lies in giving. The presence of flowers, with their brief beauty, sings of the giving behind what is offered.
