Plaza Echaurren en Valparaíso.

Una pequeña plaza en uno de los centros de Valparaíso. El lugar público o ciudadano por excelencia, abierto y disponible para todos. Las ventanas de los edificios que la rodean muestran lo cuidado de sus fachadas en cuanto a su dibujo o diseño. En el centro hay una fuente que distribuye sonoridad y variaciones luminosas con el agua que mueve.

Entremedio está el follaje de unos árboles que circundan su perímetro, éstos árboles tienen un tamaño buscado, por eso en el croquis aparecen en blanco, están bajo la línea de la más alta edificación y sobre las cabezas de los transeúntes.

La ciudad construye su habitabilidad con una voluntad de dominio de los espacios, así las ventanas de dobles hojas, con particiones en sus vidrios en dos o en tres en altura son fruto de una voluntad.

En su centro hay una fuente en metal fundido que reúne en su volumen una voluntad escultórica con el escurrimiento del agua, es un ornamento que expresa una cierta abundancia de energía desplegada y sostenida día a día.

En todo este estar en medio de la ciudad se puede reparar en los acentos , todas estas construcciones espaciales cuyo dominio está en su dibujo y facturación se completan al incluir el follaje de estos árboles calculados en su volumen, altura, cantidad y ubicación. Son unos organismos vivos que se los controla pero no se los domina, todo el resto del espacio construido con límites inertes es dominado y controlado.

Esta presencia de los vegetales viene a cantar una cierta benevolencia del espacio urbano, bajo cuyo control y dominio puede florecer aquello que no está sujeto a su directa voluntad.

A graciously blooming control and order of space

Plaza Echaurren in Valparaíso.

A little square in one of the centres of Valparaiso.

The public or civic place par excellence, open and available to everyone. The windows of the buildings that surround it demonstrate the carefulness of its facades as regards their drawing or design.  In the centre there is a fountain that distributes the sound and luminous vitality that comes with moving water.

In the middle is the foliage of the trees that line its perimeter, these trees have a specific size, given by the white region in this sketch. They are below the height of the highest building and above the heads of the passers-by.

The city constructs its habitability with a will to order spaces, thus the windows divided into two panes, with two or three horizontal divisions are the result of such a will.

In its centre there is a fountain in cast metal whose form combines a sculptural will to order with attention to the way the water runs off, it is an ornament that expresses an abundance of energy deployed and sustained on a daily basis.

All this being in the middle of the city is retrieved through accents: these spatial constructions whose order is derived from their drawing and registration are completed by the foliage of these trees, so carefully calculated in their volume, height, quantity and location. They are living organisms that are controlled but not mastered. Having been constructed with inert boundaries, it is all the rest of the space that is fully ordered and controlled.

This presence of vegetation comes to sing of the benevolence of urban space, under whose control and order something not subject to its direct will can come into flower.
