3. SUBJETS DESCRIPTIONS
- Travesía Workshop. Architecture or Design Workshop
The foreign student have to experience a contact with the American continent trough a real architecture or design piece of work, in a trip. These works we do, since 1984 al around America, have a relation with the amereida poetry, because this epic poem sings a duty we have with our continent. We think America is an unknown and mysterious land, and is our poetic duty to reveal and show the sense and the destiny of its people and nations. The most important sense of these trips is to open new matters and points of view that help us to understand and reveal the unknown of our continent. We do this making and building pieces of work –in real scale- in architectural or design fields, in the places we visit. At the end of the three-monthly period, after the trip, we have time to work in and study a final project. This project consist in making an exhibition with scale models, annotation books, the account of all the work and ideas, etc. The aim of this project is an experience in the profession (architecture or design), working with the direct observation of the city’s reality. Our most important study area is the city and all the things and events that take place in it. We study drawing these events. The drawing exercise is our method to investigate the reality of the city, the relationship between citizens and their environment. - Taller de Amereida – Amereida Workshop
This subject is about an American poetic vision. It wants to bring us the present of America, and work around our traditions. It is about bring the originals and their lights over our present. Our school is busy in checking the basic issues that make us Americans, and the Amereida workshop is the place and the time to talk and study these matters. In this way we have an epic poem: “Amereida”. It was written in 1965 by many authors; poets, architectures, painters, philosophers, etc. The poem indicates a very original way of thinking and living. Our tradition is to listen this song of poetry and then try to introduce its main concepts in the art of architecture and design. Our tradition also is open to new dimensions were we could debate about the constant renewal of the relationship between our trades or professions and poetry.
